Mathematician, computer scientist
and codebreaker Alan Turing
was most notably known for his
work with the British Intelligence
Service, which led to the breaking
of the German Enigma machine; an
achievement that saw him chosen
as the current face on the £50 note.
Following the war, Turing was based
at The University of Manchester.
